Having the Peloton app on a much bigger screen was a game changer. No need to squint your eyes looking at a tiny phone screen while following a fitness routine.
Let’s turn your living room into a private gym!
Trust me, once you’ve experienced it, your fitness routine will never be the same.
The Clever Fix:
Mirror your phone’s screen to the Samsung TV by clicking the Cast icon on the Peloton app and choosing your TV on the device list.
Can I install the Peloton app on my Samsung TV?
Now, that is the question.
If it’s an app, it seems logical to try and install it directly on the TV, right? But can you really do it?
Unfortunately, no.
The Peloton app cannot be installed on a Samsung TV.
You can also double-check it on your TV’s app store. If you can’t find it, it’s because the TV is not compatible with the app.
Despite the Samsung TV OS not supporting the Peloton app, it doesn’t mean you’re out of options.
Spoiler alert, you can screen mirror it to the TV, use a streaming device (Roku, Fire Stick, or Apple TV), Chromecast, HDMI cable, and many more!.

Methods to use Peloton on Samsung TV
1. Mirror Peloton app to the TV
The simplest and most effective way to have Peloton on your Samsung TV is by mirroring your phone’s screen to the TV.
Remember that this works only if your Samsung TV has the casting feature.
See detailed steps below to learn how to set it up.
Use Airplay (for iOS)
No matter how impressive an iOS screen display is, it’s still too small when you’re standing back doing your workout.
For all iOS users out there, this is the quickest option for you. It’s time to use that AirPlay feature on your iPhone or iPad.
Essentially, you’re transferring what’s on your small screen directly onto the big screen.
Ensure that AirPlay is enabled on your Samsung TV.
If you haven’t enabled it yet, here’s how:
- Press the Home button on your Samsung TV’s remote.
- Enable AirPlay by going to Menu > Settings > All Settings > Connection > Apple AirPlay Settings > AirPlay.
After that, your TV is ready.
Start by ensuring that your iOS device and Samsung TV are on the same Wi-Fi network, and then follow these steps:
- Open your Peloton app on your iOS device and start streaming a workout class.
- Click the Cast icon and select AirPlay.
- Choose your Samsung TV in the list.
If your TV doesn’t support AirPlay, check other methods in the list.
Direct casting from the Peloton app (for Android)
Screen mirroring using an android device is relatively easy.
Here’s how to do it:
- Connect your Android device and Samsung TV to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open the Peloton App on your Android device.
- Start streaming workouts on your TV.
- Tap the Cast icon and select your Samsung TV on the list.
However, there’s a slight hitch which you need to keep in mind when using your phone and casting it to your Samsung TV.
Imagine this: You’re in full swing with your workout and suddenly your phone’s battery starts to drain. Naturally, you’ll want to plug it into the nearest outlet and keep going with your workout, right?
But, isn’t it harmful to use the phone while it’s charging?
Not necessarily harmful, but there’s a risk of overheating which could affect the battery life.
This might not happen every day, but on the days when your phone’s battery is running low from extended streaming, it’s worth considering.
That’s why I would suggest using a streaming device instead if you can spare a little extra cash.
2. Use a streaming device
Samsung tech support recommends this approach, as there is no need to buy a new TV when you can spend a fraction of that on a streaming device.
Clearly it’s a simple and affordable solution. It’s also your quickest gateway to access the Peloton app on your Samsung TV.
By just plugging in a streaming device (Roku, Fire Stick, or Apple TV) to your TV’s HDMI port, it allows you to stream content from the internet and download apps.
The installation process is basically the same for every streaming device.
Just plug the streaming device in, connect it to Wi-Fi, launch the streaming device’s app store (Roku Channel Store, Amazon Appstore, App store etc.), and then install the Peloton app.
You can start your workout right away after installation – as easy and fast as that!
If you don’t have one yet and are planning to get one, remember that not all streaming devices support the Peloton app.
Popular options like Roku, Firestick, and Apple TV are known to be compatible with the Peloton app, so ensure you check the compatibility of the streaming device with the Peloton app before buying one.
3. Use Chromecast
You might be wondering how Chromecast becomes an option if it functions similarly to screen mirroring from your phone.
Well, there’s a slight difference (but an important one!).
Unlike with screen mirroring, where you need to keep the screen active during the entire workout, Chromecast allows you to exit the device after starting a workout session.
After sharing through Chromecast, the video download and processing is entirely handled by the Chromecast receiver.
This eliminates the risk of your phone overheating, as your phone’s screen is not actively used during the workout.
Here’s how to setup your Chromecast:
- Plug in your Chromecast device to your Samsung TV’s HDMI port.
- Connect your Android device and Samsung TV to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open the Peloton app on your Android device.
- Find the class you want to stream and tap on the Chromecast icon. (the Chromecast icon is the rectangle with a sideways Wi-Fi signal)
- Select your Chromecast device from the list of available devices.
The class will start playing on your Samsung TV after all the steps above.
4. Cast your screen directly from your Peloton device
If you own a Peloton device, like a Bike or treadmill, here’s how you can project your screen onto a larger one, like your Samsung TV.
Follow these steps:
- Start with ensuring your Peloton device and Samsung TV are on the same network.
- On the right part of the screen, click Settings > Cast Screen.
- Select the Samsung TV in the device list.
Wait for it to connect, and that’s it!
5. Connect with an HDMI cable
Another method to access the Peloton App on your Samsung TV is by connecting another device, such as a laptop or tablet, to your TV using an HDMI cable.
This trick is also handy if your TV isn’t a smart TV.
You’ll just need an HDMI cable, an adapter, and your phone.
For Android, you’ll need a USB Type-C to HDMI adapter (if your phone has a Type-C port, as most recent phones do).
For iOS devices, you’ll need an Apple Lightning Digital AV Adapter.
Here’s how to do it:
- Plug the HDMI cable on the TV’s HDMI port.
- Connect the HDMI cable into the Lightning Digital AV Adapter/USB Type-C to HDMI adapter.
- Connect the Lightning Digital AV Adapter/USB Type-C to HDMI adapter into your phone.
- Switch the TV’s input to the HDMI port it is connected to.
No extra steps.
Your exercise classes should be visible on the screen.
6. Use Peloton’s web version
This wouldn’t install the app on your Samsung TV, but this could be a good workaround to get Peloton workout classes flashing on your TV screen.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Launch your Samsung TV’s internet browser.
- Tap the address/URL bar on top of the screen.
- Type https://members.onepeloton.com.
- Input your Peloton login credentials.
- Select the class you want to open.
I feel you. You may think that this may seem like hard work, typing all those letters and symbols on the URL bar, but I assure you that there’s another way to easily access this.
Bookmark the page – it’s the trick.
In this way, you wouldn’t need to manually type it every morning before you start your Peloton sessions.
7. Download Peloton app directly from the internet
Yes, Samsung TV does not have the Peloton app in its app store but downloading the app directly from the internet is possible.
However, it’s required to own a membership to be able to use the app on your TV.
If you already have an all-access membership, then you’re good to go.
Here’s how to download Peloton from the Internet:
- Open your TV’s internet browser.
- Search for Peloton digital app.
- Find the official app and install it on your TV.
- Once done, open the installed app and login your credentials.
- Enter payment method and pay to activate your account.
(No payment needed if you already have All-access membership)

Pros and cons of using Peloton on Samsung TV
Using Peloton on your Samsung Smart TV can be a great way to enhance your fitness routine.
However, there are also some potential drawbacks to consider.
Pros
Larger screen size
One of the biggest advantages of using Peloton on your Samsung Smart TV is the larger screen size.
This can make it easier to follow along with workouts and see details like metrics and form.
Convenient
Using Peloton on your Samsung Smart TV can be more convenient than using a smaller device like a phone or tablet.
You don’t have to worry about propping up your device or squinting to see the screen.
Increase motivation and engagement
With the Peloton app, you can access a wide variety of workouts, including cycling, running, strength, yoga, and more on a bigger screen.
This can help you stay engaged and motivated in your fitness routine because you can see the routines clearly and loudly.
Cons
Additional expense
While many Samsung Smart TVs are compatible with the Peloton app, some older models may not be.
This might incur a cost if you plan to purchase a streaming device to get the app on the big screen.
Additionally, if you liked the app on the TV, you might (I know you will!) be encouraged to get a subscription once you start your home workout using your TV.
Limited interaction
While using Peloton on your Samsung Smart TV can be convenient, it may also limit your interaction with other Peloton users.
You won’t be able to see or compete with other users on the leaderboard, for example.
Peloton app won’t open on Samsung TV – What to do
This transition to big-screen fitness hasn’t been without its hiccups.
Over the years, I’ve faced my fair share of compatibility issues and software glitches. Yet, each challenge only served to increase my knowledge base.
Here are some troubleshooting solutions to help you resolve the issue.
1. Power cycle your Samsung TV
Sometimes, simply restarting your TV can help resolve issues with Peloton not opening.
To power cycle your TV, unplug the TV from the power outlet for 30 seconds then plug it back in.
This will restart your TV and may help resolve the issue.
2. Check your internet connection
The downside of any internet-dependent app is it depends on your internet connection if your streaming will go flawlessly.
If you’re experiencing intermittent connectivity and you can’t get a single workout set done, then it’s time to check your internet connection.
Make sure that your TV is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network and it is strong enough to support streaming.
You can do power cycling as your initial step to refresh your router.
Simply unplug it for 30 seconds and plug it back in.
Contact your internet service provider if the issue persists for a long period of time.
3. Update Your TV’s Software
Make sure that your Samsung TV’s software is up to date.
Outdated software can cause issues with apps like Peloton not opening.
To check for updates, go to your TV’s Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now.
Your TV will check for any available updates and prompt you to install them if there are any.
Try casting Peloton again after.
4. Reach out to professionals
If the problem persists on Peloton only, consider reaching out to Peloton Support associate here or visiting their support center for a chat option.
However, if you think that the problem is on the TV, like the problem also happens on other apps, dial Samsung technical support at 1-800-726-7864, available every day from 8 AM –12 AM (EST).
